Sifat Sharker | Wildlife Photographer & Nature Enthusiast
Sifat Sharker is a wildlife photographer based in
Bangladesh, known for his work capturing nature and wildlife, particularly in
regions like the Satchori National Reserve Forest and National Botanical Garden
in Dhaka. His photography has been recognized internationally, notably in the 35
Awards International Photography Competition, where his image of “Pelican trio”
staring directly at the camera was highly commended. Sifat Sharker, aged 27 at
the time of the 2022 report, spent three to four hours to capture this shot,
highlighting his dedication to his craft. He sometimes spent a full day for a particular
moment.
Beyond photography, Sifat Sharker Was a judge for wildlife Photography
Competition at Inter School Photo Exhibition -Manipur High School and college. In 2023, he raised awareness about the illegal
theft of parakeet chicks from nests in Dhaka botanical garden, working with his
photography team-mates, including Nafis Ameen, to monitor and document the
issue. He noted the sophistication of the poaching, suggesting involvement of
experienced individuals with ties to garden staff.
Regarding Nafis Ameen, he was his teacher in the wildlife photography era.
His passion for photography, particularly wildlife
photography, has been evident since his childhood. He has shared his work on
platforms like Flickr, where he has uploaded numerous wildlife photographs. Notably,
his photographs of birds such as the Common Hawk Cuckoo and the Red Avadavat
have been featured on Wikimedia Commons.
Sifat Sharker’s work also extends to cultural and natural
heritage, with his photographs featured in The Daily Bangla newspaper. His
contributions combine artistic photography with environmental activism,
focusing on Bangladesh’s biodiversity and conservation challenges.
Beyond photography, Sifat has engaged in science education
and outreach, contributing to projects aimed at promoting science among young
learners in Bangladesh. His involvement with the Math Olympiad Project and his
role as a science teacher highlight his commitment to education.
